In the Spotlight with Lisa Muscroft of Norton Finance

Lisa Muscroft of Norton Finance gives us her insight into gyms, always being on the go and some of the biggest issues in the secured lending industry at the moment...

1. How long have you been at Norton Finance?
I have been with Norton Finance for 12 years, working my way through the ranks. Prior to this I was studying at college.

2. What do you see happening in the secured lending industry in the next 12 months?
Currently the property market remains stable but the stock market is struggling to recover. It is difficult to see any drastic changes to criteria and the current funding market is still restricted, meaning lending volumes will not change substantially in the next 12 months.

3. What is the best thing about your job?
Managing a committed and loyal team who strive to achieve a superior position in our chosen market.

4. And the worst thing?
Failing to achieve our department target.

5. If you could be an animal what would it be and why?
An elephant –they never forget.

6. If you weren’t working at Norton Finance what would you be doing?
This is a difficult one, however if I was not at Norton I would like to be a manager of a gymnasium. I enjoy helping others achieve their goal and in return I could save £35.00 a month myself on membership fees.

7. What do you like to do on your weekends off?
I always like to be on the go, I like to ensure I have a hectic weekend socialising with friends and family. This includes plenty of drinking and eating out.

8. What’s the biggest issue you have to deal with at the moment in the secured lending area?
Irresponsible lending guidelines have made a significant difference to the intermediary market although initially it would have been easier to focus on the perceived demerits of the new procedures. It is my opinion that an ongoing right first time approach will pay infinite dividends for the broker, lender and consumer as we gradually move away from the recession. This, I hope, will promote a stronger synergy across the sector as well as driving down potential risk for our lending partners.

9. Where is your favourite destination in the world and why?
My favourite summer destination would have to be Grand Cayman in the Caribbean. The beaches are amazing.  My favourite winter holiday is New York; nobody else can do Christmas like New York.

10. What is your favourite movie and why?
Dirty Dancing has got to be an all time favourite. I also enjoy an exciting movie such as Taken.
