A good read… Make the time
“Peeing is like a good book in that it is very, very hard to stop once you start.”
― John Green, Paper Towns
Difficult as it is nowadays to get a moment to think, losing yourself in a good book can be very therapeutic. They may even sometimes stimulate a thought which can improve business performance or life generally.
Stephen King may not seem to be the type of author who would do this, given his main themes of horror, Pet Cemetery, Carrie, It etc. However, his latest 22/11/63 is, as they used to say, a “ripping good yarn”, a real page turner, and also quite thought provoking.
I won’t give away the detail, but the basic premise of the story is that there are portals into the past – “rabbit holes” he calls them – which allow you to go back and change the past. This, on the face of it, seems like a wonderful idea. Ridding the world of Hitler would surely be a good start? Wouldn’t it be great to go back and advise the boards of the major banks of the error of their ways, and do what was needed to avoid...

Asset – Origin
• Mid 16th century from an Anglo-Norman French legal term, from old French asez “enough”, based on Latin ad “to” + satis “enough”
Asset – Noun (Oxford Dictionaries)
• A useful or valuable thing or person: quick reflexes were his chief assets; the school is an asset to the community
• (usually assets) an item of property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies: growth in net assets
Asset – Verb (Pink Pig Loans)
• To turn valuables into a short term loan
Asset – Noun (Pink Pig Loans)
• A new service to introducers looking for a new avenue to help clients raise funds for immediate personal or business needs.
Asset is a word which recently entered the Pink Pig vocabulary in a significant way, and now features a great deal in our day to day business discussions and transactions. At a time where funding to businesses and individuals is so restricted, the distribution agreement we recently signed with borro, and its associated business proposition, based on securing advances against personal assets, really comes into its own. As I said in my last blog the principles of the Olympics (Citius, Altius, Fortius) Faster, Higher, Stronger...

Christmas this year was one of the best, and we hope that all of you had the chance to get together with your family and friends, and celebrated to excess. We hope that you got all that you wished for, and that 2012 brings everything you plan for.
Christmas unfortunately is now a hazy distant memory, as we are back in the trenches. However, we are looking forward to taking full advantage of some pretty amazing new business opportunities which have presented themselves to me for 2012.
2012 is full, as it always is in January, of promise, resolutions, commitment, fitness regimes, diets, abstinence, change and importantly opportunity. For myself and Pink Pig there is one particular piece of major business news for us, which I am unbelievably excited to be announcing this week.
We are one of a small group of UK specialist packagers who have been set up to support borro’s innovative Asset Loan programme (as seen on TV). The addition of borro’s Asset Loan products to our existing secured and bridging loan portfolio has created for us, our brokers and importantly their clients a Total Package of Secured financial solutions.
A New Year also, for Pink Pig, means new...

There is no common order to the 3 P’s - Price, Place, and Promotion - used to define a company’s marketing mix strategy. Important as these are in the production of marketing plans, I have my own additional 2 P’s: People and Pride.
#1 Product – A focused product portfolio which matches the needs of the market, and critically its customers, is crucial to any company’s success. However, refreshing the product portfolio with new, innovative and exciting products is essential. It is difficult to express in words how energised I am about the new products we will be launching in the next few days. They will significantly add to our existing product portfolio, and, crucially, they will offer ground-breaking solutions for our brokers and their clients. Pink Pig Loans will become a real asset for our customers.
“Businesses must invest in products and people in order to create new wealth.”
#2 People – Our team has been strengthened, with Danielle Lawrence now working as a full time member of the Pink Pig family. Danielle is a highly-valued member of the team and has taken the proverbial bull by the horns. She loves to hear the "Completion Bell" ringing in the office as...

People often throw quotes around just for effect, but sometimes they capture a moment in time.
For myself, Pink Pig and the financial industry, Bob Dylan had it right with “…the times they are a-changin” and Barack Obama put it in focus with “Yes, we can change. Yes, we can seize our future.”
The definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. So, why do we do it? Why do we stay mired in the muck rather than reaching for something new?
Sometimes change comes out of the blue, but if well managed will be good for the business. Amy Smith, who was with me from the very start of Pink Pig Loans, has left the company, and I sincerely wish her great success in the future. So new times, new challenges.
I’m really pleased and excited to see how well Danielle Lawrence has stepped up to the plate. She’s taken on a more senior full time underwriter role and I’m certain that she will become a fantastic member of the team, an asset to the company and our customers. To repeat Obama “Yes we can seize our future” and that’s exactly...
